FAQs on Excel V+ Laser:

What is the Excel V+ Laser?

Excel V+ is the latest generation laser technology from Cutera that treats a variety of vascular conditions from tiny spider veins to deeper blue veins quickly, safely, and effectively. The Excel V+ Laser is 100% non-invasive and treats visible red, blue, or purple veins from the outside, without any need for injections or incisions.

How does the Excel V+ Laser work?

The laser delivers pulses of light energy that penetrates through the skin. The laser energy causes the vein to close and the closed vein is then reabsorbed by your body over time. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin’s surface, where it should be, causing the veins on the surface to disappear.

How does Excel V+ Laser differ from Sclerotherapy for spider leg veins?

Each treatment is different and the best option depends on the type, size and color of the spider veins being treated. Sclerotherapy injections are generally a good option for larger spider veins that cover a large surface area or for patients with darker skin; During your consultation, our vein doctors can determine if injections or laser therapy will be most effective.

What Happens During Laser treatment?

Laser treatments take 10-15 minutes and are done in our office without numbing. Patients describe the treatment as feeling like a mild stinging sensation as the pulses of energy are delivered. To minimize discomfort, the Excel V+ Laser uses a proprietary cooling mechanism that cools the skin on contact.

When will I see results?

Most patients find that the treated area shows a significant improvement within a few weeks of treatment. To get optimal results, patients may need a couple of treatments over a few months. You can discuss expectations with our vein doctors during your consultation.

What are the side effects of laser treatment?

Following treatment, pain is minimal and no downtime is required to return to your normal activities. You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment; however, you may notice temporary side effects such as slight redness and swelling, similar to sunburn. These effects only last for a few hours.
