Dr. Delius is a board-certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon with 24 years of experience. After a career performing more “traditional” vein treatment surgery (incision with a scalpel), Dr. Delius elected to transition to more modern-type catheter-based therapy by joining the staff at Metro Vein Centers. He now serves our location in Canton, Michigan. Dr. Delius obtained his medical degree at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. He then completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center, and continued with a residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He completed his training with a year of specialization in pediatric heart surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, UK. Dr. Delius’s career has encompassed the entire gamut of cardiac surgery, including transplants, ECMO, adult cardiac surgery, and a special emphasis on pediatric heart surgery. Dr. Delius is passionate about the cutting-edge treatments he is able to provide at Metro Vein. “ It is becoming increasingly apparent that that [traditional (open-incision)] surgery is being relegated to the past … what I was doing was essentially similar to being a horse and buggy salesman just as the Model T was introduced! Metro Vein Centers is at the forefront of providing effective, safe and cost efficient treatment for many arterial and venous conditions in an outpatient setting, and I thought it would be more rewarding to be part of the future.”
